摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an organic EL (Electroluminescence) device, capable of forming an organic luminescent layer with a uniform thickness in a desired area by a simple method without deterioration of manufacturing efficiency by facilitating relative positioning between a substrate and a letterpress printing plate. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing an organic EL device 10 including an organic EL element including an anode 12, a cathode 25 and an organic luminescent layer 24, and a substrate 11 for mounting the organic EL element includes steps of: arranging a plurality of partition walls 15 substantially in parallel on the substrate 11; performing liquid repellent treatment to the surface of the substrate 11 with the partition walls 15 formed thereon; forming a lipophilic bed layer 19 on a surface of the anode 12; and forming the organic luminescent layer 24 within an area partitioned by the partition walls 15. In the step of forming the organic luminescent layer 24, an organic luminescent ink is supplied between the plurality of partition walls 15 along the longitudinal direction of the partition walls 15 by use of a letterpress printing plate having a plurality of projections arranged substantially parallel in conformation to the arrangement of the plurality of partition walls 15.
