PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner for efficiently removing dust attached to a dust collection bag, and for keeping the size of a body reduced. SOLUTION: The vacuum cleaner includes a dust removing section for removing the dust attached to the dust collection bag, and a brake section for holding a power cord so that the power cord is not wound when used. The dust removing section includes a turning lever 34 periodically turning in association with a cord reel 29 rotating when unwinding and/or winding the power cord, a sliding lever 36 sliding in association with the turning lever 34, and a vibrating plate 26 periodically operating in association with the sliding lever 36 and vibrating the dust collection bag. The brake section is configured such that the turning lever 34 abuts on the cord reel 29 to stop the rotation of the cord reel, and when an external force is applied to the sliding lever 36, only the sliding lever 36 operates, and the brake section is not released.
