AIR SECONDARY BATTERY AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME

Disclosed is an air secondary battery wherein deterioration in charge/discharge characteristics due to oxygen generated in the air electrode layer during charging can be suppressed. The air secondary battery comprises a power-generating element composed of an air electrode layer containing a conductive material, a negative electrode layer containing a negative electrode active material and an electrolyte layer formed between the air electrode layer and the negative electrode layer, and an outer packaging body for housing the power-generating element. The air secondary battery is characterized in that the outer packaging body is hermetically sealed while having an oxygen-containing gas inside and the pressure within the outer packaging body is lower than atmospheric pressure at the time when charging is started.
