<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which can attain energy saving, while avoiding deterioration in the convenience of the image forming apparatus, as much as possible. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with a sleep transition time input section 56 for inputting the sleep transition time up to transition to a sleep mode, an energy supplying control section 611 and a switching control section 612. The switching control section 612 has the power-supplying control section 611 to make the energy-supplying mode switch, based on the default sleep transition time, when the sleep transition time is not changed; has the power supplying control section 611 switch the power-supplying mode, based on the sleep transition time after the change, when the sleep transition time is changed by the input section 56; and has the power-supplying mode switched by the power-supplying control section 611, based on the sleep transition time (default value) before the change, when the sleep transition time is changed, after being switched to the sleep mode.
