PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter device for dust collection having a mechanism for improving dust shaking off effect in backwashing, which is used for a compact dust collection apparatus having a large filtering area and stably keeping filtering performance of a filter medium over a long period of time. SOLUTION: The filter device for dust collection includes a shaking off mechanism for filter particles by an intermittent backflow cleaning system, and filter cartridges for separating the air flow from particle groups. The filter cartridge has a cylindrical filter medium which has a bellows part formed by folds. The filter medium is attached to the filter cartridge in a direction allowing the air flow to pass from the outside and in a state that the bellows part is expandable and contractible. The filter medium is expandable and contractible in the direction orthogonal to the folds of the filter medium. The total length of the filter medium during the backwashing in the direction orthogonal to the folds of the filter medium is set to be longer than the total length of the filter medium during the filtering.
