PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily install and remove a sound absorbing material provided to the enclosure of a motor. SOLUTION: An electric motor 12 has a rotor 53 and a stator 54 in its enclosure 50, and the motor includes protruded portions 110, formed by bending parts of the outer circumferential portion 50a of the enclosure 50 outward and opposed to each other in the direction of the axis of the enclosure 50; a sound-absorbing material 111 placed between the opposite protruded portions 110; and a sound-absorbing material fixing member 112, that covers the exterior surface of the sound-absorbing material 111 and fixes the sound-absorbing material 111 on the enclosure 50.
