A method and apparatus for determining the filter coefficient relate to the technical field of communication and solve the problem of great error and complexity of the prior filter coefficient determination technology. This method for determining the filter coefficient comprises: storing the ideal frequency domain autocorrelation functions for different channel types and the Wiener filter coefficients corresponding to these autocorrelation functions; calculating the statistical value of the frequency domain autocorrelation function for the current channel; comparing the statistical value of the frequency domain autocorrelation function for the current channel with stored values of the ideal frequency domain autocorrelation functions; determining the filter coefficient according to the comparing result.
