OPTICAL INFORMATION RECORDING MEDIUM AND DEVICE FOR RECORDING/REPRODUCING INFORMATION ON/FROM OPTICAL INFORMATION RECORDING MEDIUM

An optical information recording medium (1) has, on a substrate (50), a ROM layer (20) and a RE layer (40), an intermediate layer (30) which separates the ROM layer (20) and the RE layer (40) from each other, and a cover layer (10) arranged at the furthest position from the substrate (50).  The RE layer (40) is an information recording layer, which is arranged at the furthest position from the cover layer (10) and has disc type identification information and individual identification number recorded thereon by means of a system by which information can be more easily determined compared with the information recording format used for a layer from which information can be only read out by irradiation of light. Thus, confirmation of the disc type in the recording/reproducing device is facilitated, one recording/reproducing device can be used for optical discs of different types, and manufacture of the discs is facilitated.  The old data recorded on the ROM layer can be updated by recording the new data, which is obtained when the medium is connected with the internet, on the RE layer.
