Provided is a fluorescent lamp which is not turned off even when being lighted under a high-temperature atmosphere. In the fluorescent lamp, a pair of hot-cathode electrodes are provided at the opposed ends of the fluorescent lamp; fluorescent substances are laminated on the inner surface of a glass tube; and a protective film is formed between the glass tube and the fluorescent substances.  The fluorescent lamp is characterized in that the ratio of the partial pressure of impure gas remaining in the lamp and absorbed and stored in the fluorescent substances and the protective film, with respect to the partial pressure of a charged noble gas is not more than 0.5%; and the amount of charged liquid silver is designated by GHg [mg], the volume of the lamp is designated by CL [cc], and the factor is designated by A [mg/cc], so that the following relationship is satisfied. GHg=A × CL A=0.0032 to 0.163 [mg/cc]
