A vibration-damper for the spindle 16 of a machine-tool, e.g. a drilling or milling machine, comprises a friction brake 24 coacting with a toothed wheel 18 on the spindle 16. The brake ring 24 is pressed against the back 28 of the spindle-driving bevel gear 18 by a screw-threaded ring 30 bearing against spring- pressed studs 34 and screwed on a collar 32. A scale on the ring 30, co-operating with a fixed reference mark on the collar, indicates the setting of the brake. |
