The percussion instrument (1) allows a solo musician to play drum and percussion sounds by standing on the instrument (1) and tapping or stomping on the top surface. Preferably, the instrument includes a pickup to detect the vibrations caused and transmit them to a PA system where they may be amplified; effects and EQ may be added or adjusted for greater tonal range. The instrument may include a snare, which can be adjusted with a thumb screw (9) to provide a tighter snare sound. The instrument may include two trigger pads (6) to electronically generate sampled sounds by tapping a foot on the trigger pads (6). The instrument is preferably a hollow wooden box, with an output jack plug (5) for connection to an amplifier. A reversible mat (3), with carpet on one side and rubber on the other side, may be provided on the top surface of the instrument to provide a variety of tones; the mat may be held in place using hook and loop fasteners (4). |
