PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress increase in power consumption by suppressing a wauling sound in an electric reel controlled so that tension is constant. SOLUTION: The electric reel is mounted on a fishing rod and is equipped with a reel body, a spool, a motor, a change switch, a PWN driving circuit, a tension data memory area and a reel control section. The change switch is used for setting tension at a plurality of stages. The PWM (pulse width modulation) drive circuit drives a motor with pulse-duration modulation signals in which a duty ratio changes. Data having the duty ratio corresponding to tension at each stage are stored every spool diameter. The reel control section calculates the spool diameter from data for displaying a water depth and reads out data having the duty ratio from the tension data memory area by the calculated spool diameter and the stage of the set tension and carries out open loop control of the PWN-driving circuit.
