Class 75(4) [Also in Group XIV] A device for the display of flowers consists of an open topped receptacle in which flowers or plants can be housed, having side walls closed by a sheet metal base shaped to provide within the base a recess having light reflecting walls and means therein for mounting one or more light sources, the whole being constructed so that the receptacle can be supported above ground level so that direct and reflected light emerges downwards. In the form shown, the receptacle has sides 1 of wire mesh and a sheet metal base 2 within which electric lamps 6 are mounted and is carried by a hollow stake 4 forming also a channel for the electric supply leads. Alternatively, the receptacle may be mounted on legs, on a separate stand or may be suspended by chains. An additional source of light 11 for illuminating the contents of the receptacle may be provided. A translucent screen which may be tinted. may be mounted over the mouth of the recess. The receptacle may be circular or rectangular and, in the latter case, strip light filament lamps or fluorescent lamps may be used. |
