摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wavelength conversion sintered compact capable of achieving light emission of high luminance in which color unevenness is reduced: a light emitting apparatus using the same: and a method for manufacturing the wavelength conversion sintered compact. <P>SOLUTION: The plate-like wavelength conversion sintered compact formed of an inorganic material and a phosphor includes first and second main surfaces. The wavelength conversion sintered compact has a surface layer provided with at least a plurality of recess portions on the first main surface, and a center layer inner from the surface layer, wherein phosphor particles in the wavelength conversion sintered compact are distributed larger in the center layer than in the surface layer. With this configuration, the surface can be made to be irregularly uneven shape to thereby enhance optical dispersion.
