<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent shortening of the lifetime of an image forming unit due to wear of parts, accompanying an initial drive of the image forming unit and to additionally shorten the time required for initial processing, in an image forming apparatus which can attach/detach the image forming unit and forms an image in a recording medium P. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with an opening part provided in an image forming apparatus body; an opening/closing member for the opening part; an image forming unit which can be attached/detached to an attachment part inside the apparatus body from the opening part after opening the opening/closing member, and has a developing means 7 for developing a latent image formed on an image carrier; an opening/closing detection means of the opening/closing member; an attachment/removal history detection means of the image forming unit; and a control means for controlling motions of the image forming apparatus. The contents of initial sequence control executed during the time, from the time a power source is applied to the image forming apparatus, until the image forming apparatus becomes a state to enable formation of an image are made different, according to detection results of the attachment/detachment history detection means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
