<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of a conventional technique detecting an action or a wink of a driver that is likely to happen even when the driver is not dozing, and more particularly, to provide a technique which drastically reduces the amount of data operation and effectively detects drowsiness of the driver. <P>SOLUTION: A drowsiness detection method and an apparatus thereof are provided. The apparatus includes an ultra-wide band module and an electrocardiography module for acquiring sequential heart-rate signals. The method sequentially acquires heart-rate period values of a subject.
