METHOD FOR DETERMINING RESPONSIVENESS OF INDIVIDUAL TO MISTLETOE LECTIN

<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for determining responsiveness of an individual to mistletoe lectin or a mistletoe lectin single chain, and characterizing corresponding responsiveness by manifestation of a membrane-bound receptor of the mistletoe lectin. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An in vitro method for determining responsiveness of an individual to mistletoe lectin or a mistletoe lectin single chain is described, and the responsiveness is mediated by specific bonding to the membrane-bound receptor of a hydrocarbon-bound subunit of the mistletoe lectin. The receptor is characterized by terminal N-acetyl-neuraminase bonded to galactose through α2-6 glycoside bond.
