PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging optical system which corrects chromatic aberrations for the entire screen to achieve high optical performance, and an optical apparatus including the imaging optical system. SOLUTION: In the imaging optical system of which the back focus is longer than a focal length, a lens unit located in a reduction-conjugate side of an aperture stop surface includes at least one or more positive lenses. The partial dispersion ratio and the Abbe number of at least one of the positive lenses are set such that a refractive index, the position, and power, etc., satisfy a suitable relationship.
