PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a belt device and an image forming apparatus that suppress breakage to a belt. SOLUTION: Guide members 80 are disposed upstream of a follower roll 45 in the conveying direction of a conveyance belt 46. Each guide member 80 has, for example, a cylindrical form and has a curved surface 82. The curved surface 82 is disposed in contact with the corresponding edge 46a of the conveyance belt 46. Thereby the guide members 80 suppresses widthwise meandering of the conveyance belt 46. Each guide member 80 is supported by a rotation shaft 84 substantially perpendicular to the shaft 66 of the follower roll 45 and is rotated following conveyance of the conveyance belt 46.
