PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an induction-heating apparatus and an induction-heating method with which a gear and a stepped shaft are simultaneously induction-heated in good condition. SOLUTION: In the apparatus 10 for induction-heating the gear 16 and the stepped shaft 15, an annular coil 1 is disposed around the gear 16, and to the stepped shaft 15, a linear coil 2 is facingly disposed in the axial direction, and alternating currents of different frequencies are supplied to the annular coil 1 and the linear coil 2. Further, a part of the linear coil 2 is facingly disposed at the boundary part 17 between the stepped shaft 15 and the gear 16, the hardened pattern of the gear 16 with the annular coil 1 and the hardened pattern of the stepped shaft 15 with the linear coil 2, are connected.
