The device (10) has a rim (20) attached with a cover at a tie bar (11). Multiple catch elements (30-n) with specific breadth are provided on the tie bar in a longitudinal direction. The catch elements have a hook part and a movable guide. An elongated body is clamped and/or cached between the hook part and the movable guide. The catch elements are integrally molded on a material e.g. polypropylene or polyoxymethylene, of the rim in the region of the tie bar. The elongated body is attached to padding material i.e. polyurethane foam. The tie bar consists of plastic or metal. An independent claim is also included for a method for fastening a cover on an upholstery material.
