PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a step skew at which the arrangement of permanent magnets is shifted in the circumferential direction while suppressing cost. SOLUTION: This permanent magnet type rotating electric machine (1) includes: a stator core (4) in which a plurality of stator salient poles (42) are radially protruded; a stator (2) having a stator winding (5) accommodated into a slot (44) which is formed between the adjacent stator salient poles; a stator core (7); and a rotor having a plurality of the permanent magnets (6) which are arranged at equal intervals in the circumferential direction of the stator core. In the stator core, a plurality of grooves (31) which are longer than the permanent magnets in width are formed in the circumferential direction, the permanent magnet is formed into a flat shape at a rotor core side, and the groove is formed into a flat shape at a side face and a bottom face.
