摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical writing type display device capable of easily reducing light intensity required for writing and initialization in a display medium, using a simple configuration. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In a preprocessing, the optical writing type display device 10 exposes a photoconducting layer 20, by using writing light with first intensity lower than third intensity required for a writing process which is performed without the preprocessing. In the writing process, writing light with the first intensity is emitted and a voltage with a voltage value that is second intensity is applied to electrodes 15 and 22. In the preprocessing, the device exposes the photoconducting layer 20, by using writing light with the first intensity lower than the second intensity required for an initializing process in which the writing process is performed without the preprocessing. In the initializing process, writing light with the first intensity is emitted and voltages with a voltage value that is the first intensity are applied to the electrodes 15 and 22.
