<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a red colored resin composition which attains higher luminance of a red colored layer of a color filter and which can improve the productivity of the color filter, because the storage stability of the resin composition used for forming the colored layer is improved, and to provide a method for producing the colored resin composition, a color filter using the colored resin composition, and a display device that includes the color filter. <P>SOLUTION: The colored resin composition includes (A) a pigment, (B) a pigment dispersant and (C) a photosetting or thermosetting material, wherein the pigment (A) includes C.I. Pigment Red 177, C.I. Pigment Red 242 and C.I. Pigment Red 254, and the colored resin composition is obtained, using a pigment dispersion prepared by dispersing in a solvent a pigment mixture having a content of C.I. Pigment Red 254 of 50 to <100 mass% relative to the total mass of the pigment (A) and including C.I. Pigment Red 177 and C.I.
