<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device in which a display having higher whiteness is obtained in comparison with the case where a peak wavelength of selective reflection of a cholesteric liquid crystal and the content of the cholesteric liquid crystal are not considered. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A liquid crystal-containing composition includes cholesteric liquid crystals composed of a first cholesteric liquid crystal which has the peak wavelength of selective reflection in the range of 600-800 nm and is encapsulated in a microcapsule, and a second cholesteric liquid crystal having the peak wavelength of selective reflection in the range of 400-500 nm.
