<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of facilitating an input operation and an input operation device therefor. Ž<P>SOLUTION: When a standard mode is shifted to a universal mode, previous function settings are reset, so that a user who utilizes the universal mode is prevented from erroneously obtaining output of undesired function settings. Furthermore, when the standard mode is recovered from the universal mode, previous function settings are maintained, so that a user who utilizes the standard mode can perform outputting or the like while utilizing the previous settings.
