A method and an apparatus for acquiring information stored in a database of a DNS (Domain Name System) are disclosed. According to one embodiment of the present invention, a DNS query is created and transmitted to a DNS server, and a response to the DNS query is received from the DNS server, wherein the DNS query is created by using client IP address information, and the DNS server transmits, as a response to the DNS query, information matched to the client IP address information stored in the database of the DNS to a host server if the client IP address information is contained in the DNS query. The present invention has advantages in that information stored in the database of the DNS can be directly acquired without constructing or using a separate database, and a customized service using IP address information can be provided.
