PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polyurethane resin aqueous dispersion which has a narrow molecular weight distribution, does not use an organic solvent at aqueously dispersing, and gives a dried film excellent in physical properties, and the polyurethane resin aqueous dispersion obtained by the producing method. SOLUTION: The method for producing a polyurethane resin aqueous dispersion (Q) containing polyurethane resin particles (U1) with a volume-average particle size of 0.005-5 μm is characterized by dispersing the polyurethane resin (U) whose end isocyanate group content is 0.2 mmol/g or less into water without using an organic solvent at a temperature of lower than the melting temperature of the polyurethane resin (U) using only a kneader (A) as a dispersing device.
