<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate stable GMA arc by suppressing a wire from being more softened than required. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In this plasma GMA welding method in which the GMA arc 31 is generated by flowing a pulse wave-shaped GMA welding current Iwp between the wire W and a welding base metal P and also a plasma arc 32 is generated by flowing a plasma welding current between a welding torch 2 and the welding base metal P, the pulse peak current value Imp and the pulse base current value Imb of the GMA welding current Iwm are set so that they have a variation section where the pulse peak current value Imp and the pulse base current Imb are varied when varying the plasma welding current Iwp and the pulse peak current value Imp and the pulse base current value Imb when the plasma welding current Iwp is set to a certain value are not more than the pulse peak current value Imp and the pulse base current value Imb when a smaller value than the plasma welding current Iwp is set.
