PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a steplessly blockable locking device which is more compact and inexpensive than the conventional ones. SOLUTION: The steplessly blockable locking device has a substantially cylindrical operation chamber 4 formed inside a housing 1, a piston 9 for dividing the operation chamber 4 into a first operation space and a second operation space, a piston rod 13 led out to the outside from the operation chamber 4 in a sealed state, and a valve chest 5 formed inside the housing 1 in parallel to the operation chamber and arranged with first and second valve assemblies 14, 15. The operation chamber 4 is always filled with a liquid medium, and the valve chest 5 is filled at least partially with the liquid medium. Preferably, the operation chamber 4 and the valve chest 5 are separated from each other by an intermediate wall 6. The intermediate wall 6 is formed with a first connecting passage 7 in the vicinity of a first housing end part 2 and formed with a second connecting passage 8 in the vicinity of a second housing end part 3.
