The present invention relates to an apparatus for automatically controlling harmonic waves. The apparatus for automatically controlling harmonic waves according to the invention comprises a zigzag reactor, a serial reactor, a condenser bank, a power-state detector and a harmonic controller. The zigzag reactor is connected to a load in serial and offsets harmonic components. The serial reactor is connected to one end of the zigzag reactor and connected to the load in parallel. The condenser bank is connected to the serial reactor, and the power-state detector detects the power state of a power system to output a detection signal. The harmonic controller judges based on the detection signal from the power-state detector whether or not the harmonic components exist. If the harmonic components exist, the harmonic controller controls the on/off operations of the condenser bank.
