A method and device for synchronizing the configurations of the network management and the network element. The method includes: setting configuration change numbers which both the network element and the network management can recognise for the network element, in which the numbers are the label when the configuration of the network element has changed which are identified with serial numbers; the network element reporting a configuration change event to the network management when the configuration of the network element has changed, in which the configuration change event includes the configuration change number and the configuration change information; after the network management receives the configuration change event, it synchronizing the configuration of the network element according to the configuration change number. The device includes: a change number setting module, a change event reporting module and a configuration synchronizing module.
