The method involves activating a heater depending on a temperature using a control device for removal of outer covering consisting of crystalline water. Reflection of light (9) that is emitted by a light passage panel (7) is determined using a sensor. A cleaning device is set into operation during exceedance of predetermined values for removal of an outer covering consisting of dirt particles. An independent claim is also included for a device for removal of an outer covering of a heatable light passage panel in an exterior lighting of a motor vehicle. |
