PURPOSE: A method and an image displaying device for inserting thumbnail image are provided to generate thumbnail image and insert the thumbnail image to a header of original data when a thumbnail image does not exists. CONSTITUTION: A JPEG(Joint Photographic Expert Group) header parsing unit(261) receives searching command of an original data storage unit from a user. The JPEG header parsing unit parses a header of an original data. The JPEG header parsing unit determines whether a thumbnail image exists. If the thumbnail image does not exist in the header, a JPEG thumbnail image generation unit(263) generates thumbnail image corresponding to the original data. A JPEG thumbnail image insertion unit(264) inserts the generates thumbnail image to the header.
