PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-type air conditioner installable in a balcony of a high-rise condominium, reducing the number of connection pipes respectively between a plurality of use units and a plurality of heat source units, suppressing degradation of performance caused by piping pressure loss by shortening a distance between the heat source unit and the use unit, to improve energy-saving performance. SOLUTION: This multi-type air conditioner includes the plurality of use units 12, the plurality of heat source units 13, and a liquid connection pipe 14 and a gas connection pipe 15 disposed between these units to run a liquid refrigerant and a gas refrigerant therein. The plurality of heat source units are respectively disposed approximately horizontally in parallel in relation to installation faces, the liquid connection pipe and the gas connection pipe constitute common connection pipes 14, 15 connecting the plurality of heat source units to the plurality of use units, air blowers of the heat source units are constituted to distribute the air horizontally to the installation faces, each heat source unit is provided with a check valve 16 preventing intrusion of the gas refrigerant from the gas connection pipe to a discharge side of the compressor, and a gas-liquid separator 2 is disposed at a suction side of the compressor to prevent intrusion of the liquid refrigerant to the compressor.
