<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an FF (feed-forward) distortion compensation amplifier for controlling an attenuation amount of a variable attenuator provided in a preceding stage of a distortion detection loop when a signal input to an auxiliary amplifier of a distortion compensation loop is an excess input. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The FF distortion compensation amplifier comprises: a distortion detection loop for extracting a signal corresponding to a distortion component of a signal input to a signal input end; and the distortion compensation loop using the signal corresponding to the distortion component extracted by the distortion detection loop to eliminate a distortion component of a signal output from a signal output end. In the FF distortion compensation amplifier, the variable attenuator is provided in the preceding stage of the distortion detection loop, and when the signal input to the auxiliary amplifier of the distortion compensation loop is an excess input, the variable attenuator controls a signal level of the signal input to the signal input end.
