APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR INPUTTING ENGLISH CHARACTERS

Disclosed are an apparatus and a method for inputting English characters using clone keys in a portable terminal, wherein English characters which are identical to the English characters arranged on the key most recently inputted by a user are allocated to the clone key. The apparatus for inputting English characters comprises: a data storage unit for storing a program for inputting English characters; a key input unit for sensing a key operation signal from the user to select an English character arranged on each key; and a memory unit for storing the arrangement information of the English characters on the key, which corresponds to the most recent key operation signal, to allocate the arrangement information to the clone key.
