<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To retain effective wide roll width by adjusting elastic bending force of the whole surface of a roll. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A forming roll device forms an optical sheet by passing soft thermoplastic resin between a pair of rotating forming rolls. At least one pressing roll 5 of the pair of the molding rolls is composed of a dual cylinder equipped with a roll shaft having a roll end plate a, a flexible thin metal outer cylinder 11 having both the end sides mounted to the roll shaft via the roll end plate, and a metal inner cylinder 14 provided with a fluid-feeding space of cooling fluid between the thin metal outer cylinder 11 and itself, and coaxially stored in the thin metal outer cylinder 11. The cooling fluid is circulated in the fluid-feeding space. In the forming roll device, a plurality of roll-circumferential grooves 22, for adjusting the flexibility of the thin metal outer cylinder 11 so that the flexibility becomes larger at a roll end part than at an axial center part of the roll, are provided along the axial direction of the thin metal outer cylinder on an inner peripheral surface of the thin metal outer cylinder 11.
