PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for controlling navigation of an object in a portable terminal are provided to divide a touch screen into an output area and a control area, thereby performing the organic mutual operation between the output area and the control area. CONSTITUTION: A touch screen(100) comprises an output area(200) and a control area(300). The output area displays an object. The control area displays a GUI(Graphic User Interface) object for controlling the operation of the object. A controller(1060) processes navigation of the object by interaction between the output area and the control area.
