<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress deterioration of a recording mark caused by increasing output laser power to compensate for a drop in the S/N ratio when reproducing information recorded in a high-density recording medium at a high speed. <P>SOLUTION: A method of reproducing an optical information recording medium reproduces information recorded in the optical information recording medium in which the information is recorded/reproduced by irradiation with a laser beam emitted from a semiconductor laser by a laser beam emitted by modulating a high-frequency current on the drive current of the semiconductor laser. When a ratio between maximum instantaneous light intensity (Pp) of light intensity of the laser beam modulated with the high frequency and average read power (Pave) is defined as an optical modulation rate (Pp/Pave), the optical modulation rate is switched according to a selected linear velocity. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
