<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video presenting realistic sensations with no video distortion due to a difference in aspect ratio when a video signal is projected to a display element with a different aspect ratio. <P>SOLUTION: A pixel display includes a decoding part 101 for decoding a video signal, a first memory part 102 for storing the decoded video signal, a second memory part 106 for storing the video signal whose aspect ratio has been converted, and a control part 104 which initializes the second memory part 106 storing the video data of predetermined hue and divides the video signal stored in the first memory part 102 into a predetermined number of divided regions based on a predetermined number of divisions corresponding to the number of display pixels on a display screen. The control part 104 expands the video signal stored in the first memory part 102 for each region, based on the horizontal/vertical direction expansion information, with magnification factor being corresponded, of at least one of horizontal and vertical directions different from region to region.
