PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus for preventing toner from being adhered to a contact surface of a conveying guide near a reverse gate and preventing a wetting phenomenon due to condensation, and to provide a control method for the image forming apparatus.

SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with: an image recording section for forming a toner image to a recording medium and thermally fixing the recording medium on which the toner image is formed; a reverse unit for conveying the recording medium with the image recorded on one side at the image recording section and then reversing the conveying direction to record an image on the other side of the recording medium in a switchback manner; a temperature measuring section for measuring the temperature inside the reverse unit; and a control section for controlling the duplex printing operation and adjusting the temperature inside the reverse unit based on the temperature measured by the temperature measuring section.
