PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ball-point pen which can write well, has satisfactory handwriting and, even when the colorants are precipitated, can easily obtain desired colors upon beginning to write. SOLUTION: The ball-point pen is made by directly filling ink for ball-point pen which contains at least pigment as colorant and has a viscosity at shear rate 384 sec<SP>-1</SP>, 20°C, of 5 mPa s to 50 mPa s, into an ink storage cylinder, wherein the ink for ball-point pen contains pigment as colorant, a back end part of a ball-point chip or a chip holder is extended into the ink storage cylinder, an annular space is formed between the back end part of the ball-point pen or the chip holder extended into the ink storage cylinder and an inner wall of the ink storage cylinder, a valve base is disposed in the back end part of the ball-point chip or the chip holder and a valve mechanism having a valve member movably arranged on the valve base is disposed.
