PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system including an ad hoc network for enabling the ad hoc network to efficiently select a gateway for connecting a fixed external network. SOLUTION: When the ad hoc network 1 is composed of a plurality of mobile routers MR, the mobile routers to be a gateway GW to an external network 2 transmit and receive a gateway notification packet including a gateway priority and radio link information among mobile routers. Thus, each mobile router selects and changes a gateway by continuing and canceling the gateway or determining to be a new gateway, and selects and change the gateway by autonomous distributed control of each mobile router without requiring a special node.
