<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical scanning device accurately positioning an imaging member and adjusting a scanning line, and a method of mounting the imaging member of the optical scanning device on which the imaging member can be accurately mounted. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The optical scanning device has a semiconductor laser device 61, a rotary polygon mirror 63, an imaging lens 64b and an optical box 60 housing them and having a seat face 67b to be brought into contact with the imaging lens 64b, the seat face being formed inside thereof, and is constituted to position the imaging lens 64b so as to be adjustable. The imaging lens 64b has projecting parts 66a formed at both end faces in a sub-scanning direction, the projecting parts 66a being formed in the same position in the optical axis direction of laser beams. Further, the projecting parts 66a are formed closer to the seat face 67b than the center part of the imaging lens 64b, and the imaging lens 64b can be adjusted through the projecting parts 66a.
