<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production device for an optical element which can deal with wide production conditions, and can improve the production efficiency of an optical element, and to provide a method for producing the same. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The production device 10 where glass GP is pressed so as to produce an optical element comprises: a chamber 20 having a heating stage 21 for heating a forming die 50b having an upper die 51b and a lower die 53b, a pressurizing stage 25 performing pressurization and a cooling stage 27 performing cooling; and a carrying apparatus successively moving and stopping the forming die 50b to each of the heating stage 21, the pressurizing stage 25 and the cooling stage 27. At least either the heating stage 21 or cooling stage 27 is provided by a plurality of pieces, and the production apparatus 10 is further provided with a selection section for selecting a stopping stage at which the forming die 50 is stopped.
