PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine refuge safety of an architectural space considering the layout of the architectural space. SOLUTION: A method is provided to determine refuge safety in the architectural space with a target fire sensing time set thereto, which is required for a person in the architectural space to sense a fire when the fire occurs in the architectural space. A smoke diffusing area is determined based on the target fire sensing time. A smoke diffusion factor is determined based on the determined smoke diffusing area. A required visibility rate is determined based on the determined smoke diffusion factor. The visibility rate is determined based on the design drawings of the architectural space.
