<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve an occupant protection performance at the time of side collision. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Collision is predicted by a collision determination ECU (100). When a collision prediction direction is on the left of an occupant, a reclining actuator on the right side of the occupant of a seat back is actuated to a down-side (a direction, in which a seat back 44 is reclined) (110), and a reclining actuator on the left side of the left side of the occupant of the seat back is actuated to an up-side (a direction, in which the seat back 44 is made to stand up) (112). Also, when the collision prediction direction is on the right of the occupant, the reclining actuator on the right side of the occupant of the seat back is actuated to the up-side (106), and the reclining actuator on the left side of the occupant of the seat back is actuated to the down-side (108).
