PURPOSE: An air conditioner and a method for detecting an error thereof are provided to reduce time and labor force by automate an error detection work and to improve accuracy of the detection work. CONSTITUTION: A method for detecting an error of an air conditioner is as follows. The temperature of an indoor pipe is measured(S220). An indoor expansion valve connected to an indoor heat exchanger is closed(S230). It is determined whether a temperature change of the indoor pipe is normal or not(S240). The indoor expansion valve is opened(S260). After the indoor expansion valve is opened, it is determined whether the temperature change of the indoor pipe is normal or not(S270).
