<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the characteristics of a liquid crystal panel from deteriorating due to moisture entering the panel concerned. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A heating timer (32) measures heating time required for a heater (30) to heat a liquid crystal panel (16). A heating interval timer (34) measures elapsed time posterior to the previous heating of the liquid crystal panel (16). A temperature-controlling circuit (26) controls the heater (30) at heating interval setting time intervals according to the heating timer (32) and the heating interval timer (34) to heat the liquid crystal panel (16) only for heating setting time at a temperature at the time of moisture removal, the temperature being not higher than the phase transition temperature of the liquid crystal material of the liquid crystal panel (16).
